Les Enfants Vert Finally Have a Home

New York Magazine, April 13, 2008.
Summary
In spite of the recent ban on the New York Times, New York Magazine came through with an essential article for white person research. It seems as though regular private schools are simply not white enough for many parents. As a result a French ex-pat in New York has opened a French language Preschool, in New York, with $13,000 tuition, features environmentally friendly products and organic food.
This school also helps to give white parents one more reason for not sending their children to public school. “Public schools don’t have organic food, I can’t have my child eating pesticides. So I’m not racist, I’m just concerned over the food health of my child.”

Why French? What a waste. (I really know why, but that’s not a good reason). 3 billion people in Asia, and they’re not learning French. Avoid “ghetto culture”? I wonder what “ghetto” designates to the many white people who use it as a commonplace term? I don’t think that using “ghetto” as a pejorative term is racially neutral. In fact, it expresses a way of viewing the world that is completely racist.
The assumptions of the above question are astounding. So, public schools=ghetto culture=unfit for an animal. Wow… too stupid.

Private schools, im speaking private highschools, actually have more hardcore drugs then public schools. While public highschools might have tons of pot, its the private schools who get the coke, meth, and prescription pills.
Actually, abusing prescription medication should be a post in and of itself. White people love abusing medications, so I feel it fits. White people are kinda over the whole pot thing (cuz its cheap and readily available, coke is a waste of money for a high lasting less then an hour, and meth is just kinda dirty and complicated, to much chemistry there) so pills work perfectly, you pop one back when your with the girls out to lunch at a lovely organic cafe, then you go home and read the huffington post and talk to your alcoholic/ambien abusing sister on the phone. White men abuse prescription pills differently. They mix them with alcohol, and have a fun little cocktail. This probably wont be a post because its not very positive, but in my family abusing prescription drugs are so, i guess its more of an undiscussed topic.

Yet, middle class whites today — and it is almost always middle class folks — use “ghetto” as an adjective to refer to anything cheap, distasteful, inferior, etc. There are definitely hidden racial assumptions to this word used in this sense.
And there are definitely contemporary usages of “ghetto” that are not pejorative: consider “ghetto fabulous.” This sense of ghetto affirms the word in the face of negative, white middle class conceptions/uses of it.

I’m the wrong kind of white person b/c I play contact sports, wear Ralph Lauren and Nike, worked at Abercrombie in college, have lean protein rather than organic food as the cornerstone of my diet, use free weights instead of nautilus at the gym, earned a BS instead of a BA, watch football, and hang out with the right kind of white people’s deepest secret fear - big black guys who wear throwback jersies.
Don’t ever expect to see black guys like them at a dinner party. Cosbys, Kravitzs, Urkles, and Obamas more than welcome, b/c the right kind of white people think having minority friends who are otherwise exactly like themselves makes them edgy, open-minded, intellectual, progressive, and better than all the other white people.
It didn’t occur to me that the parents might have had racist motivations for this until they said “I’m not racist”. Which of course means that they are.

I think everyone is racist. Some might be more racist then others, but we all judge people who are different then us. sure we have black friends, but you know when you go to the mall and see them wearing tweety bird slippers, in your mind your thinking “damn why cant black people just not be so lazy and throw on some damn shoes, and maybe have pants that arent flanel”. Or your at the mcdonalds drive threw and the lady barely speaks english and you cant understand what the hell she is saying, i know your thinking “damn cant these mexicans just learn our damn language before they take all of our jobs”. Just that one little thought in your head doesnt make you racist, it makes you human. And obviously we know humans arent perfect.

No! I actually live In a very lovely town. Our mall is very nice, we have a nordstrom, and a tiffanys, and a williams sonoma, and tons of upscale shops. Now im not saying all black people dress in tweety bird slippers, because usually when it comes to upscale shopping, black people are known to overdress, but you do see them. I know its not hard to throw on some shoes, or even real pants, so thats wat pisses me off. We get to have beautiful stores, but its like “who cares, im gunna wear what i want”, and that little respect in just wearing clothes that you dont sleep in is why some sales clerk treat them differently then someone who has a nice clean collared shirt, with pressed black pants, and black shoes.
ummm..i see more WP walking around campus and in walmart with pajamas on more than anything. I’m just saying..continue.

I’d stay away from NY Mag in the future. They offer tongue-in-cheek social commentary, just like this site. I’m sure there are blatantly and absurdly white people articles in mainstream publications other than the NY Times (though they do excel at white peopleness).

People piss me off, this is just another way for people who have money to waste to flaunt it to the rest of the world that is in the middle of a food shortage. 13,000 would probably feed a family in Haiti for a year but gotta send little buffy to get organic everything. Nonsense, the U.S. is going to get Captain Moonlighted if we are not careful, this excess is one reason people hate us. We “liberal” Bay Aryans have had French-American schools for some time. I believe, now, starting at 15-18K for pre-school. We love “not being racist” here. San Francisco, the largest gated community in the world.

Black people with money do the same thing. Not french schools perse, but very expensive preschools and up, they will spend the money for to keep their children out of inner-city public schooling. Majority of the black people who have money in St. Louis, send their children to John Burroughs, the Mary Institute of Country Day (MICDS) or Rosati Kain (an all girl private school). My aunt one daughter in John Burroughs (12k per year) and the other in MICDS (17k per year) at the same time. Those are the top three expensive private schools where there’s probably 3 black kids to every 100 students. I went to private school myself but it was only 5k a year. So I guess I would look stupid around white and black people who obviously spend way more.
